Meril R&D team studied over 180 combinations of various polymers to narrow down to 12 desirable combinations, from which one proprietary polymer blend was selected to manufacture the scaffold.
Over 235,000 man-hours of work and millions of dollars of investment resulted in 18,000 prototypes produced at various stages of development and bench testing, including 4,800 prototypes of finished product of various sizes .
MeRes100™ is manufactured from a high molecular weight PLLA ,which has a sufficient molecular weight to ensure that the scaffold retains the necessary healing characteristics and post healing degrades completely via bulk erosion, the loss of molecular weight happens in controlled manner ,which gradually lead to loss in radial strength over a period of six months
